FrauenBilder. Julia Krahn im Dialog accompanies the eponymous 2025 exhibition at the Landesmuseum Hannover, bringing together twenty years of the artist’s research in dialogue with iconic works from the museum’s collection, including pieces by Corinth, Courbet, Rodin, Rubens, and Segantini.
Spanning 238 pages and featuring critical contributions from Gabi Scardi, Maike Schult, Chyong-Yi Yu, Mazdak Faiznia, and Gianluigi Ricuperati, the volume explores themes of memory, identity, and collective imagery.
At its core lies the figure of the woman: oppression, objectification, violence, but also liberation and resilience across the centuries.
The book is published in both German and English, but also includes original poems by the artist, sometimes in Italian, sometimes in German. This introduces a third level of reading, allowing the volume to be explored through text, images, or poetry.
More than just an exhibition catalogue, this volume represents a journey into the world of Julia Krahn.
